NEW SHOP {coming late March}

If you follow me on Instagram (@koriclark), then you probably aren’t surprised by this announcement, as I have mentioned it there a few times…. but I have a new shop I am opening at the end of March! To be real with you all, I have done a lot of “soul searching” over the last year about the direction I would like to be moving in. We are all moving constantly, changing, evolving, and hopefully moving our lives in a positive, forward motion and trying to line ourselves up to be as successful in life as we can. I don’t mean the success measured in a bank account, I mean the success measured in the quality and joy of life. My passion is art and it’s something I do in my free “me” time whether I get paid or not. I love paper. I love stationery. I love celebrations and parties. All of these things came together seamlessly to create Paper & Pigtails. It’s been a true blessing and brought joy to my life in so many ways I couldn’t have ever anticipated. Over a year ago I began researching getting into a “printed line” of stationery products to expand my printable business. It was fun, and very enlightening. I learned something y’all…I learned it’s not really for me. And that’s ok. Maybe things will be different one day, but for now, it just didn’t line up with my priorities, loves, and brand. You see, my favorite part of my career is in actually creating artwork, the digital and hand illustrations. Straight out of college I worked for a company that created large format graphics for RVs, and I would spend days drawing bears, cougars, mountains, and covered bridges that would later be plastered across the back of some RVs on the road (you may have even passed some of them over the years!). I think this is when my love of illustration really sunk in…you see we also had to draw all of those swirls, swooshes, etc that you see on the sides. I found myself always rushing through the swooshes so I could draw more cougars and mountains. This is why I adore creating printables so much, I really get to focus on the “meat” of what I love. Sometime last fall as I was looking at a font designers site, I realized I wanted something like that…but for graphics. A place to sell my digital and hand illustrations. You see, even thought it’s MY favorite part…it isn’t that way for everyone. Some designers really love the page layout aspect of stationery, some love combining colors, fonts, and graphics in unique way, and some simply love the production and packaging part of it all. To me it makes sense that I should focus on what I REALLY LOVE and let others focus on what THEY REALLY LOVE! It also opens up my designs to be used by other creatives in digital scrapbooking, stationery, blog and web design, and even photography story boards and cards. There are plenty of Clip-Art sites out there, and I am working hard so that this is something a little different…more of a boutique style illustration and graphic site. Paper & Pigtails will remain the blog and the printable side of the business, but the new graphics shop will be Kori Clark  {koriclark.com}. It is still “under construction” and I have a lot of work to do to finish it. This may mean that you see a little less of me in other places, or the printables shop may be on vacation a little bit more over the next month and a half until it’s wrapped up, but it’s a labor of love…which honestly doesn’t feel much like labor at all!

To leave you with a little sneak peek…I want to share the branding board of the new site. I will give you little sneak peeks of parts of it as it comes together, but I have to tell you…I am absolutely nervous to the core to spend so much time and investment on expanding my business and at the same time I am elated to be following through on a dream and passion to bring my business somewhere that fits perfectly into my life and loves. Alright guys… heart on my sleeve.

    1. Jennifer! Exactly! Although I know you have been through the same thing by opening your business! =) Talk about scary! I appreciate all of your support!

  1. Kori,
    This blog post could not have come at a better time for me. I have been dreaming about rebranding VGE for some time now. I feel like I am not working to my fullest potential and doing what I really love which is graphics. Mind you I have NO experience what so ever, but if I’ve managed to to do all the graphics for my own parties the past few years and love them than I must be doing something right. Maybe. This post has encouraged me to pursue my dream of branching out into the printable/graphic world and get by behind in gear. I should probably start by taking some sort of graphic design course and go from there. Thanks again for sharing your story. I am behind you 100% and am IN LOVE with your branding board!!!

    Best of luck always.

    1. Thank you Vanessa!!! I am so thrilled to read your comment! I can tell you that posting this and putting it out there made my hands shake! It’s scary to pursue what makes you happy and try a new direction that may suit you better! Growth is all about pushing yourself and following where you feel your heart pulling! Many many brilliant artists are self taught! Thank you for your kind words and support and let me know how things progress with your business! xoxo

  2. Kori, love that you are following your heart, and this preview has me for one SO EXCITED to see the big reveal! I would love to be able to do some site updates with your designs and illustrations. It takes a lot of courage to think you have found the right direction, realize it isn’t, then continue to search again…I hope and pray this is exactly what you have been looking for! xoxo Kate

    1. Thank you Kate!! Sometimes it’s funny how perfect something seems looking through the window…then you go inside and it just doesn’t fit. Every experience is about learning and I feel like my experiences have brought me back to what I loved the most about design to begin with. I looked and looked for something “bigger” and really what I needed to do was come back to the basics!! Thank you so much for your friendship and support! xoxo

  3. Kori,

    Congratulations! I love how it looks so far and can’t wait to see more. And you are so right, I haven’t yet discovered a passion for illustrations, I’m obsessed with the layout part of it though.

    I can tell you’re doing this not just to grow your bank account but to grow yourself as a person. I think a business that has a heart WILL be successful sooner or later.

    Hugs,
    Jasmine
