Time is certainly flying by this summer and we are enjoying every moment so far!! After 10+ years of driving 8 hours both ways to visit my mom and dad, they made the leap and moved down to the beautiful beaches and country living surrounding us here in Sarasota/Bradenton. Every day I have asked the kids what they want to do, they say in unison “Can we go to Granddad Rick and Honey’s house???” (Yes…my mom is known as Honey to the kids…she is so cute!). To add to the excitement, we have been plugging away at getting everything ready to start construction on our new home and have finally selected everything from the refrigerator to the fence style and we are in the process of getting bids for all of the work! I will share more of the design aspects of it (from a layman’s point of view) once we break ground. With the kids home and us all balancing the changes that summer brings, I have been doing a lot more work “off-line” and on paper. I don’t have the chance to spend the time in front of a screen like I could during the school year (nor do I want too…after all…this is the reason I work from home!) so it’s wonderful to break out my designer sketchbook again!
I also have been taking on a number of custom illustration designs, which works well with my paper summer schedule! I decided it would be fun to share some of my projects that are in the works, so you can see my summer designer sketchbook!
I have quite a few pencil drawings that I have been inking in, like the tie and bow tie design, so I can turn them into vectors for the koriclark.com site…so look for those coming soon! The building is for a custom map project I have been working on. Isn’t that building lovely??
I also have been working on designs to load into my line on Paperstyle.com, so you will some new ones coming up soon…including this one!
Finally…we are in the middle of planning my little girls 6th birthday! She has requested a Beach Barbie Swim Party. Luckily she only wants the barbie on the cake and not in the design. (I almost broke a sweat thinking of BUYING invites so as to not break copyright laws!) She explained exactly what she wanted on the invites – “shell, flower, shell, flower, shell, flower…” and then asked if I would paint them. I still have some work to do in order to get them to her high standards…but I think we are off to a good start!
I hope you all are enjoying this summer and all of the beauty that comes with it!!
Your sketches are just gorgeous Kori! What a wonderful way to spend a summer!
