Resolutions and Free Digital Wallpaper

Hey Y’all! I hope everyone is having a wonderful start to this new year so far! As it always seems to go, there are things here that simply couldn’t be going any better, and there are other things that are trying to throw a curveball in our good new years vibes. I am making a choice to stay focused on the positive and the things that I can control and let go of the things I can’t…. that sounds like a good resolution right?

Speaking of resolutions…. I have been doing a lot of planning and scheming over these last few weeks for both business and life! Originally I wasn’t planning to share it, but one wish for this new year is to be more open on the blog about not just art and projects I am working on, but I want to include lifestyle, mom, and business posts as well. There are so many other aspects to life and business than just painting, that I thought opening up about some of my “behind the scenes” could be helpful!

Let’s start with a few New Year goals :

Business : 1) Commit to my business goals: Many of us who are artists and creatives get easily distracted… am I right? I know my niche, I know beyond a doubt what I should be doing and where my business focus should be, yet sometimes opportunity comes in a shiny package with a bow and I take it…even though I know it doesn’t fit my business plan. Strange right? This year, I will be sticking to my business plan and invest more time into actively finding the things my business needs instead of filling my time with opportunities that come up and don’t fit. Over the last few years, I have started tailoring my business to fit this model, but this is the year that I will commit to the business plan fully and keep the focus where it should be!

2) Post more behind the scenes  (i.e. lifestyle, home, business, and family) and freebies on the blog

3) Take back my “no-working hours”. I had these a few years ago and got more relaxed about them last year… but the hours between 3pm-8pm are for my family. I am also going to try to avoid my phone/ipad during these hours so I can be truly focused on my home, not what is happening in someone else’s home via FB.

Check out MY POST HERE for more details about non-working hours and some of the things I have done over the years to keep a work life balance!

Personal : 1) No online shopping for MY clothes – this doesn’t apply to the kids clothes, which is sometimes much easier to order than shop for… but just for me, and here is why. a) I probably don’t “NEED” any new clothes all year, so if I really “WANT” to add something to my wardrobe, I should want it enough to go shopping at the store, try clothes on, and find the right piece! b) Online shopping is sooooooo easy. I spend more than I should on things and yet, since I don’t have anything immediately tangible to show, I feel like I haven’t spent any money. c) I stink at returns. Things come in and don’t fit the way I would like, or aren’t as cute on as I thought they would be, but they aren’t bad either… so I keep them because it’s easier than returning them. I don’t love them, nor do I really wear them, but I don’t return them.

2) Host more get togethers with friends – My husband and I love to host get togethers, but somehow we don’t plan them like we should. Life is busy, complex, and exhasting for all of us, so why not celebrate that together! Now for the first Free Download of the year, January’s Phone Digital Wallpaper!!
